Culture Next exists for what happens after the bid. A European network supporting current and former European Capital of Culture candidate cities, it helps turn cultural ambition into long-term urban development. They came to us for strategy, visual identity, and verbal identity that could make that role feel as clear as it is important. So we built a brand around the real idea at the center of the organization: culture as a force that connects cities, carries momentum forward, and gives Europe a shared direction.

Culture Next: Verbal Identity & Brand Voice

The visual identity starts with one strong move: the flag. Not as ornament. As system. If Culture Next is a network of cities united by culture, the brand needed a symbol that could hold heritage, diversity, support, and collective direction at once. So we built the identity around a banner-like logo, pairing a condensed serif wordmark with graphic bars that feel structural, confident, and unmistakably institutional. European, but not bland. Formal, but not inert.

From there, the system expands with real precision. Source Serif 4 brings gravity and cultural weight. Inter keeps everything clear, digital, and usable. A vivid palette led by Culture Purple and supported by bright secondary colors gives the identity lift without losing credibility. Primary and secondary logos, sub-brand marks, member-city lockups, conference signatures, cobranding systems, social assets, and digital layouts all sit inside one recognisable framework. The result is a brand that behaves like the organization itself: structured, collaborative, optimistic, and built to move across Europe without losing itself. The Culture Next visual language is flexible enough to adapt to each city’s context while remaining instantly recognisable as part of the wider network.

Culture Next: Verbal Identity & Brand Voice

Culture Next is a purpose-built brand designed to hold a network together across borders. With 3 core pillars , strategy, visual identity, and verbal identity , the work gave the organization the tools to represent itself clearly and consistently, from policy documents to social posts, from city flags to digital platforms. Every element in the system was designed to scale: from a single city event to a multi-country campaign.

Strategy gave the voice its shape. We positioned Culture Next as a European club of cities. Not a distant institution. A collective. A peer network. A club captain, not a bureaucrat. Experienced, energising, supportive, and bold enough to move the group forward. That personality gave us the right tension for the verbal identity from the start: credible enough for institutions and policy conversations, warm enough to feel like a real community.

We called that balance informal official. The language is clear, motivating, and collaborative, with enough rhetorical lift to rally people without drifting into vagueness. Flags, banners, clubs, teams, movement, shared effort. “Under one flag.” “Join the club.” “All hands on deck.” Even the rhythm follows the same logic: short calls, longer lines, then back again, like a flag catching wind. The result is a verbal identity that can advocate, inform, and inspire in the same breath. Less organization-speak. More momentum. You can find out more about the network at culturenext.eu.

The Culture Next project is part of our broader work in cultural branding and European communications. At Glitch Studio, we believe brand identity for cultural organizations requires the same strategic depth as any major campaign , and often more creative precision.
